1930’s Taxco Silver and Obsidian Mask Bracelet (#18-023)

An early (pre-eagle) Taxco silver bracelet with carved obsidian masks or faces. This wonderful old bracelet is comprised of four hinged silver plaques, each set with a carved obsidian mask. The silver plaques are carved with curvilinear decorative lines, and the stone faces are carved in a geometric stylized manner. Fashioned from much heavier silver than is typical for this style of bracelet, it has a dark rich patina. The clasp is in good working order and is marked: “S. A. Silver Made in Mexico.”  Old Mexican jewelry marked “Silver” is typically sterling or better.
