A Very Fine Washoe or Paiute Miniature Beaded Basket with Whirling Logs Motif (#18-033)
This finely woven miniature basket is perhaps the smallest I have ever encountered. It is from the Great Basin region and would have been made by a Washoe or Paiute basketmaker. Single rod coil framework with very tiny seed beads in red white and blue with some faceted beads interspersed. It has a complex design of interlocking diamond and serrated shapes on the body, and a whirling logs design on the base. In mint condition and very finely woven.
