Los Castillo Taxco Midcentury Figural Sterling Brooch of a Campesino or Farm Laborer (#18-021)

This classic Los Castillo brooch depicts a farm laborer or campesino returning from the fields dressed in a poncho, sombrero, and sandals, and carrying a basket on his back. The basket is open and would function as a posey vase to hold a small flower. Fashioned from heavy silver with a fine dark patina, it would polish up nicely should you so desire.  This iconic design has no eagle stamp and likely dates to the 1940’s or earlier. Hallmarked “Sterling Made in Mexico Los Castillo Taxco,” and the design number 428. It is in excellent vintage condition.
