Chinese Silver and Black Stone Ring with Frogs (#18-053)
$110.00
A wonderful old Chinese export silver saddle ring, set with a black hard-stone flanked by frogs. Circa late 19th or early 20th century. This ring is a really wonderful example of Chinese jewelry made for export to the west around 1900. The black lozenge shaped stone may be onyx, obsidian, or perhaps black jadeite. The two frogs are especially charming and form the sides of the stone setting, as if they are holding the stone in place. The rest of the silver-work is well done and sets off the stone admirably. Shows good signs of age and wear, and is marked simply ‘silver’ on the outside of one side of the band.
Circa 1900. Size 6.25 Weight: 6.2 grams
